Dear all,
Thank you
for working with us through out this inaugural year of the
mandatory background screening checks. I realize there have been
times when
you have had challenges with tracking and checking the
valid
memberships of your members. As a department we determined we
would allow
our members some latitude with regards to completing the
background
screening. Most members complied however there are others
who have
taken advantage of the “grace” period allowed. As of December 1,
2008 there will no longer be any grace period or background
screening verification form that will be allowed. This background
mandate will have completed a full year cycle. From now until
November 30, 2008 we will issue background verification forms to
those who are still in the process of waiting for results from
NCSI. These
members will be placed in Pending and the verification form
should be allowed. If you ever have any questions and need
to check a person’s status please contact Erica Koven, Kathy
Feldmann or any of the staff in member services. Please identify
yourselves
as a program
chair and/or meet/event director.
A person who
is in pending because they did not complete the screening due to
additional requested information or additional fees will not
receive a verification form. If they do not resolve the issue with
NCSI within 30 days, they will then be placed in Red Light status
and therefore NO membership is granted until the issue is
resolved.
As of
December 1, 2008 a person will be a professional member because
all three components of membership are met: Required
member information and fee completed and paid, current safety
certification, and valid/Green light status from
background screening from NCSI.
As of
December any and all new members must have all components
completed and fulfilled before any membership is
released. There will be no rush, no grace period, and no
verification form. All new members should plan on 4 - 6 weeks to
complete all requirements for membership.
With regards
to member cards – we print cards every week and send to the
fulfillment house. Although we hope the time will be less for the
card to be received in the mail, a person needs to expect
to receive card in the mail within 6-8 weeks of completing the
full membership. Remember the ability to print a member card is
online 24/7/365.
Please post
the attached word document on your websites or include in any of
your email blasts. This was sent to all members in our monthly
E-Newsletter and will be in the November/December
Technique magazine. We will also post this on our website.
Thank you
all for your unending efforts. Please contact me with any
additional comments, suggestions or concerns.
Kind
regards,
Kathy
